A clear example of this expertise is one of our most recent international projects: the production of a natural stone facade for a mosque in the United Kingdom. This ambitious development involved approximately 1,900 m² of facade, where bespoke elements and specially manufactured pieces played a central role. The project stands as a benchmark of our ability to deliver custom natural stone projects in complex architectural environments, where technical precision and aesthetic coherence must go hand in hand.
Two years dedicated to a custom natural stone project
The execution of this project extended over nearly two years, beginning with the first shipments in April 2022 and reaching completion in February 2024. Throughout this period, a total of 46 containers were coordinated and delivered, reflecting not only the scale of the project but also the logistical planning required to ensure timely and efficient execution.
Of these shipments, 24 containers were dedicated to traditional masonry work, consisting of handcrafted special pieces produced by skilled stonemasons. The remaining 22 containers included cut-to-size cladding, manufactured with advanced technology to guarantee dimensional accuracy and perfect on-site installation. This combination of craftsmanship and industrial precision is a defining characteristic of Bateig’s custom natural stone projects, where tradition and innovation work together seamlessly.
Natural materials shaping a unique architectural identity
Material selection was a crucial aspect of the project. Three of Bateig’s limestones were chosen: Bateig Diamante, Bateig Azul, and Capri-Dafenqi. Each of these stones contributed unique visual and technical qualities, enabling the creation of a balanced and harmonious architectural composition.
The facade prominently features Bateig Diamante in ashlar format, covering more than 1,770 m² with pieces measuring 9.5 cm in thickness, alongside additional elements produced in 15 cm thickness. This variation in dimensions not only enhances the structural performance but also adds depth and visual richness to the overall design.
Details that define custom natural stone projects
One of the most distinctive elements of the project is the design and execution of the arches. In this area, pieces made from Dafenqi and Bateig Azul were carefully combined to create a dynamic visual rhythm that reinforces the architectural identity of the building. The interplay between tones and textures adds elegance and sophistication to the facade.
In total, 70 arches and 67 columns in Dafenqi were manufactured specifically for this project. Each piece was crafted with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring both aesthetic consistency and structural precision. This level of customization highlights the importance of expertise and craftsmanship in delivering high-quality custom natural stone projects.
